Cookies are small text files placed on your device that allow a website to recognise your device and store certain information about your preferences or activity.
These cookies are essential to the operation of the platform. They enable core functions such as signing in, maintaining your session and securing the service against fraud. The platform cannot function properly without them, and they cannot be disabled through our consent controls.
Cookies in this category: sb-*-auth-token (eSoko/Supabase — keeps you signed in; up to 12 months) and esoko_consent (eSoko — remembers your cookie choice; 12 months).
We count visits and listing views without a cookie. Our server derives an anonymous key from your IP address and browser details; the key changes every day and nothing is stored in your browser for it.
These cookies remember choices about how the platform is shown to you. They hold no personal details and are not used to track you. They are set without asking because the platform uses them to display pages correctly.
Cookies in this category: NEXT_LOCALE (your language, English or Kiswahili; 12 months), esoko-vp (whether you last used a phone, tablet or computer, so pages arrive in the right layout; 12 months) and esoko-icon-set (the icon style, shared across eSoko's own sites; 12 months).
Some information is kept in your browser's own storage rather than in a cookie. It stays on your device and is not sent to us with each page: homes you save before signing in, your chosen currency, announcements you have dismissed, whether the dashboard menu is open or closed, whether the app's opening animation has already played, which listings you have already contacted during a visit (so one enquiry is counted once), and, in the eSoko Studio, your photos, templates and settings for the designs you are working on.
You can remove it at any time by clearing site data for esoko.co.tz in your browser.
These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with the platform by collecting and reporting information on an aggregated basis. We use this information to measure and improve the performance of the Services. The data is statistical and does not, by itself, identify you. They are set only after you accept them via the cookie banner.
Cookies in this category: _ga and _ga_* (Google Analytics — distinguishes visitors and sessions; up to 24 months), and ph_* (PostHog — product analytics such as which features are used; up to 12 months). PostHog also keeps the same information in your browser's storage. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not record your screen.
Some parts of a page are delivered by other companies. Your browser contacts them directly, so they receive your IP address and basic browser details, as with any website you visit. This happens whether or not you accept analytics cookies.
Fonts and icons are loaded from Google Fonts and jsDelivr; they set no cookies. Maps are provided by Mapbox, which also receives basic information about map use. Sign-in and some forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to keep out automated abuse.
When you open a 3D tour or a video, the player comes from the service hosting it (for example Matterport or a video platform), and that service may set its own cookies under its own policy. Payments are completed with our payment provider, which applies its own policy on its pages.
Where required by the Personal Data Protection Act, 2022 and applicable law, we obtain your consent before placing non-essential cookies. You may withdraw your consent or change your preferences at any time using the “Cookie preferences” control in the site footer.
